Calling Fort Wayne Air National Guard Station home, the 163rd Fighter Squadron “Blacksnakes” are assigned to the Indiana Air National Guard. After their founding in the early days of WWII, the Blacksnakes have been in the Air Guard sine 1946. After better than 25 years flying the F-16C, they have operated the A-10C since 2010.

Tail number 79-0213 is shown downrange at Kandahar AB, Afghanistan ready for an OCA sortie in support of OPERATION FREEDOM SENTINAL . She carries a standard ATO frag load of a single GBU-12 500 lbs. LGB, a single GBU-54 500 lbs, Laser JDAM. a pair of GBU-38 500 los JDAM, a LAU-131 with 8” x 2.75 rockets, another LAU-131 with 8 x AGR-20 Laser Rockets, a SUU-25 pod with 8 x airborne flares, a AAQ-33 Sniper ATP as well to her GAU-8 30 mm cannon and chaff and flares for self-protection.
